GAMENOTES: Game #10 Charlotte Hornets vs Philadelphia 76ers
The Hornets come up short in overtime as a career night from LaMelo Ball isn't quite enough.
Regular Season Game #10 Charlotte Hornets (4-5) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (1-7) - November 10, 2024
FINAL
Charlotte Hornets 105 (4-6) - Philadelphia 76ers 107 (2-7) OT
WHY DID THEY LOSE? (AND OTHER IMPORTANT STORIES)
A rough shooting night kept the Hornets from scoring what they wanted to, especially in the first half. The threes never really found their mark as Charlotte had plenty of good looks but could not convert late in overtime. LaMelo ball did all he could to force the extra period but the Hornets could not get the ultimate shot to go down after missed free throws from Philly kept them alive.
Brandon Miller was quiet for much of the first half, going just 1-3 from the floor for five points. He and LaMelo both were called for three fouls and Lee gambled at the end of the second quarter to keep them in there most of the way. But he found his way into the scoring column as the night went on but looked a step slow or something for much of the night. A couple slips in the lane, a few hurried shots…he just looked out of rhythm.
The Hornets turned the ball over 14 times in the first half but just 19 for the game. Hanging on to the ball helped them climb back from 16 down and force overtime.
The Hornets did not have their best offensive game of the night shooting under 30% on three, and under 40% overall. And that’s how it’s probably going to go. The threes will keep them in a lot of games but games like tonight will forever be annoying. I actually disagree with the notion that they are shooting too many threes. Yes…54 is quite a few but that’s where the NBA is and that’s what you do when you literally have no post presence. There were plenty of open looks tonight that did not go down. They live and die by the three.
