GAMENOTES: Regular Season Game #33 Charlotte Hornets vs. Detroit Pistons - January 3rd, 2025
An ugly game for all involved as the Hornets fall flat in the second half and can't capitalize at the free throw line in loss.
FINAL
Charlotte Hornets 94 (7-26) - Detroit Pistons 98 (16-18)
WHY DID THEY LOSE? (AND OTHER IMPORTANT STORIES)
The Hornets had a big advantage at the free throw line but couldn’t make it pay as they shot just 63% including four straight misses down the stretch.. The Hornets were in the bonus early in the second quarter and no one in Detroit was happy about it. But some big big misses down the stretch kept Charlotte on the wrong side of the score.
The free throw line would have been a nice bonus for this team as it scored 17 points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth. The offense went completely in the dirt as Detroit amped up the defense in the second half…but no THAT much! The offense was absolutely deplorable in the second half.
The Hornets held a 30-13 advantage in free throw attempts.
The Hornets turned the ball over 17 times.
The Hornets shot 9-30 from three.
Even though the Hornets only scored 12 fourth quarter points, Detroit only scored 14! Lol…what a glorious mess this game was. Detroit really won it in the third when the Pistons outscored the Hornets 32-17.
Charlotte was up 13 at the half and was down two going into the fourth quarter. Sweet mercy….
