GAMENOTES: Regular Season Game #38 Charlotte Hornets (9-28) vs. Chicago Bulls (18-23) - January 17, 2025
LaMelo wins the Battle of the Balls as the Hornets use a huge scoring night to hold off the Bulls in the Second City.
FINAL
Charlotte Hornets 125 (10-28) - Chicago Bulls 123 (18-24)
WHY DID THEY WIN? (AND OTHER IMPORTANT STORIES)
The Hornets poured in the most points in the first half they have all season and they needed every one. The bench provided a nice little kick in the first half, led by Seth Curry who started off hot.
Without Brandon Miller, Nick Smith Jr. provided some offensive punch and had an impactful game, to go along with Seth. They both filled in for what Charlotte missed with Brandon being out. Curry and NSJ both had 15.
Oftentimes teams will be so jacked to get back home after a road trip that the last one will provide a little extra energy and I saw that tonight. It’s not quantifiable but I believe it.
Mark went for 19 and 19 tonight and he was a force at times again. He had a great game tonight, even though Vuc went for a quiet 40. He makes such a difference and he’s really rounding into form. This road trip has been a great chance for him to just hoop and get in a groove.
LaMelo was way off from three ... .yes of course he hit a one-footer…but he put his head down and got the rim especially late. He led the way again, as All-Stars do, and shook off a bad night from deep to still provide offense.
