GAMENOTES: Regular Season Game #8 Charlotte Hornets (2-5) vs. Detroit Pistons (3-5) November 6th, 2024
Miles Bridges has a breakout game, LaMelo Ball stars in the fourth, and Brandon Miller wins the game at the buzzer.
FINAL
Charlotte Hornets 108 (3-5) - Detroit Pistons 107 (3-6)
WHY DID THEY WIN? (AND OTHER IMPORTANT STORIES)
With no real center to speak of, the Detroit plan was to pound the Hornets inside from the jump. They were effective early on despite just a one-point lead because none of those shots from the Pistons were threes. The triple kept the Hornets in it early.
The Hornets are really battling on the boards and did not allow a Pistons offensive board in the first quarter. Having outrebounded the Pistons by one…ONE…was rather poetic as that last one won the game for the Hornets. It’s something Miller spoke about in post-game and the emphasis from the staff to go all out and crash the boards is there.
Miles Bridges has his best game of the season with 27 points on 8-14 shooting and 2-3 from beyond the arc. He went to the locker room late in the game but was on the floor (or throwing the ball in technically) for the game-winning play. I am sure we will have to monitor this moving forward but it has to be positive he came back out and was actually in the game. Right? RIGHT?
LaMelo Ball once again proves that he is about winning time. He ripped off 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and every single damn one of them was massive. Sure, he needed 23 shots to do it but stars sometimes need the shots before they make the shots. The guy is a baller and wants the ball in his hands. Is that what is considered being a winning player? II think he contributed to that win.
